Vestas to have wind turbine assembly base in Argentina

March 13 (Renewables Now) - Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said on Tuesday it will establish a hub and nacelle assembly facility in Argentina amid plans to grow its presence in the country.

To be situated in Buenos Aires province, the new plant will help Vestas improve its overall production and enable it to meet the growth potential on the Argentine market, where 10 GW of new wind parks will be installed by 2025. According to a press statement, the factory will open around 300 direct and indirect jobs.

Vestas has installed or has under construction more than 900 MW of wind turbine capacity in Argentina, said Andres Gismondi, sales director for Latin American South Cone.

The Danish manufacturer, which has nine production plants globally, set foot on the Argentine wind energy market back in 1991 by installing the first commercial wind turbine in Neuquen province.
