ST. PETERSBURG, August 10. /TASS/. St. Petersburg-based Nissan Manufacturing Rus automobile plant is viewing an option of producing other models of the Renault-Nissan alliance on its site, press service of the company told TASS on Thursday.

The company is part of the Renault-Nissan alliance, with Mitsubishi Motors joining it in October 2016.

"Such options are considered throughout alliance existence. The plant is able to produce 100,000 cars and capacity use for the time being is about 40%," the press service said.

The site in St. Petersburg has its advantages because it is close to the border, chief executive of Auto-Dealer SPb analytical agency Mikhail Chaplygin said. "Regarding specific models, these can be light commercial vehicles. Mind that Nissan can continue localizing its models," the expert told TASS.

It was reported earlier the plan in St. Petersburg plans to start working in two shifts because of the market recovery.
