Poland: New hotel construction projects revealed by Starwood

Starwood Hotels, the company which currently operates six top hotels in Poland, is searching for a partner which would help it build two or four new hotels on the local market. Starwood is particularly keen on markets of Lodz, Zakopane, Wroclaw, Szczecin and Katowice. It is not planning any investments in Warsaw, as the capital's hotel vacancy rate is currently too high. In the meantime, the company is preparing a project to build a Sheraton hotel in Mikolajki by 2012. Because of smaller number of business travels, demand for Starwood's hotel rooms in Poland fell by 6% during the first ten months of 2009. Still, Poland remained stronger in the hotel industry when compared to Western European countries.
