Wal-Mart Salutes Mohawk
By Staff

Calhoun, Ga. - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has honored Mohawk Home as the first recipient of its Supplier Sustainability Award.

Wal-Mart saluted Mohawk for energy and waste reduction and sustainable material use.

The award was presented during the Wal-Mart Annual Vendor Summit meetings in May.

Mohawk was credited with its significant water-use reduction in manufacturing processes, its corporate and local plastic bottle recycling programs, manufacturing waste management, electricity usage management, and its crumb-rubber doormat products using reground tire rubber. Also noted were its associate awareness campaigns for the Mohawk "Greenworks" citizenship.

"Mohawk Home's efforts to embrace sound, sustainable practices are just one aspect of all the work Mohawk Industries has undertaken in its Greenworks' programs," said Bill Kilbride, president, Mohawk Home. "We are obviously very pleased to be recognized for the work we've accomplished and support Wal-Mart's initiatives to change the way business is done."
