City seeks historic status for downtown
Daphne Sashin, Sentinel Staff Writer

WINTER PARK -- The City Commission has agreed to nominate downtown Winter Park for the National Register of Historic Places. If the application is successful, owners of buildings classified as historic could qualify for federal tax breaks or grants to renovate their properties with no additional rules imposed, city officials say. The city's redevelopment agency funded the $28,000 nomination as part of economic-development incentives for downtown.
