Fuchs 11th in state all-around | Graduating state vet struggles after missing part of this season

After missing much of the season, West Allis gymnast Emily Fuchs struggled to regain her old form at the WIAA Division 1 State Individual Meet on Friday night at Wisconsin Rapids.

Fuchs placed 11th in the allaround with 36.15 points, two points behind champion Bailey Fitzpatrick of the Burlington combined squad with 38.216 points.

Fuchs took 10th on the vault with 9.267 points and 12th on the balance beam with 9.067 points.

The senior also competed on the uneven parallel bars and floor exercise, although she could not place in those events since she had not qualified for state in them. She posted 8.533 on bars and 9.283 on floor.

Fuchs, a state veteran, is graduating, but West Allis has high hopes for the future in freshman Sydnee Thomzak, who placed in a number of meets this season.
