By ERIKA I. RITCHIE, THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

World Cup gold-medalist Logan Dooley competed Wednesday in the 2009 World Trampoline and Tumbling Gymnastics in Russia after recovering from a bout of swine flu.

Dooley, 22, of Lake Forest, competed against 82 men from 23 countries in at the St. Petersburg Sports and Concert Complex in St. Petersburg, Russia.

He did well enough to help his team qualify for the team competition where the U.S. Gymnastics/ Trampoline team will square off against China, Japan, Russia and Belarus.

The qualifying round of synchronized trampoline - where Dooley will compete together with teammate Steven Gluckstein of Atlantic Highlands, N.J. - will be held today, with finals on Saturday.

Dooley in August made history for U.S. Gymnastics when he became the first American to win a World Cup title in trampoline. At the same time, he and his teammate became the first Americans to win a World Cup title in synchronized trampoline.
